About Us
Who We Are
We are organized exclusively for educational and charitable purpose within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code. The DeuceMan Strong Memorial Scholarship Foundation was established by Dwayne and Kimberly Williams to honor their son who died unexpectedly at the age of 13 on their 18th wedding anniversary June 26, 2017. The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarship support to youth in the pursuit of their post-secondary education. The scholarship is intended to support students in the art field who are highly motivated to succeed in college and for whom the award will have a significant impact both personally and financially.
What We Do
The goal of the DeuceMan Strong Memorial Scholarship is to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are residents of the Metropolitan Detroit area, for at least four years, and who may be unlikely to have access to other scholarship resources because of average grades. We are looking for students who are motivated to pursue education at an accredited college, university, and plan to study in the field of art in the United States and for those whom this award will have a significant impact. To maximize our impact on current efforts, we may seek to collaborate with other non-profit organizations which fall under the 501(c)(3) section of the internal revenue code and are operated exclusively for educational and charitable purposes.
How We Help
Residents of the Detroit Metropolitan area, who have been accepted into an accredited college, university, and have intentions to major in art. Awards vary depending on the amount of funding available, the pool of candidates applying, and the strength of a candidate's application. The maximum award amount is $1,000. Recipients may apply to renew their scholarships if they continue to meet the award criteria. Awards will be granted upon recipient providing a copy of college class schedule and college photo identification.

To receive the DeuceMan Memorial Scholarship is one of the greatest honors an inspiring artist can have. Dwayne Williams was a child just like I, from his interests to his family and it was heartbreaking to hear of his passing. Thus, this scholarship has passed the torch upon myself to carry on his dreams of pursing an art education and graduated from the International Academy of Macomb. I will never forget the impact the Williams's have had on my life. I cannot thank them enough for their magnanimity.

In terms of personal achievements, I received a Silver key Award for the scholastic art competition in 2018, and also had my work exhibition in my city's select art show for two years in a row. These actual achievements effect me greatly as well, since it is one of the few chances for my art to be shown to the public, praised in some way. Perhaps I could even say that it is a rare chance to increase my confidence in Art making as well, though regardless of others opinion my passion for art won't be swayed away.

I plan to attend Grand Valley State University this fall and study film and studio art. I will also play in the school's orchestra. The DeuceMan Strong Memorial Scholarship will help a great deal and I am thankful for the opportunity to receive this scholarship.
